Why this site exists

When a case of a severe infectious disease makes headlines, the internet fills with contradictory information, speculation and rumours. Peste.com.br exists to offer an alternative: a panel that gathers what has been published, classifies each piece of information by its level of confidence and makes clear what is fact, what is reporting and what is rumour.

We are not a health authority and we do not replace official agencies. We are an informational aggregator that provides context and points to the original sources.

Our principles

Verification before assertion

Nothing is presented as fact without an official source or confirmation by multiple sources. What is only reported is marked as such.

No alarmism

We avoid catastrophic headlines. Our goal is to inform clearly, not to generate fear or clicks.

Continuous updating

Factual content is reviewed as new information emerges, and news is updated automatically.

Editorial independence

We are not affiliated with any government, laboratory or party. Editorial content is not influenced by advertisers.

How real-time monitoring works

The site is static — which makes it fast, lightweight and secure — but it updates continuously through three mechanisms: automatic collection at build time, a scheduled rebuild, and in-browser revalidation on the news page every few minutes.

Our limitations

  • We depend on public information. If an official source does not disclose something, we cannot confirm it.
  • There may be a delay between an event and its publication here.
  • We do not diagnose, prescribe treatments or replace health professionals.
  • We do not speculate about intentions or non-public information.

Privacy and advertising

We do not ask for registration and we do not collect personal information for browsing. Theme preferences are stored only in your browser.

This site displays Google AdSense advertising. As part of how ads work, Google and its partners may use cookies and identifiers to serve and measure advertising. These are third-party technologies governed by Google's policies — you can manage preferences at adssettings.google.com. We do not use your reading data to target ads, and editorial content is not influenced by advertisers.

Medical notice

This is an informational website. The content does not replace evaluation, diagnosis or treatment by health professionals. If you have symptoms or a suspected exposure, seek medical care immediately.
